Aeropress Recipe: Ethiopia Gedeb Banko Dhadhato

equipment

  • Coffee (whole bean or ground)
  • Grinder (optional if using pre-ground coffee)
  • High quality H2O (water)
  • Scale capable of measuring in grams
  • Stirring device (such as a spoon or chopstick)
  • Timer
  • AeroPress
  • AeroPress filter
  • Your favorite coffee cup

Recipe

  1. Heat 500mL (~ 17 fluid oz.) of water to 204°F (95.5°C)
  2. Rinse AeroPress filter with hot water over cup to preheat it
  3. Grind 15g of Ethiopia Gedeb Banko Dhadhato
  4. Dump ground coffee into inverted AeroPress and place on scale
  5. Start timer
  6. Pour 50g of hot water into AeroPress and allow to soak for 30s
  7. Stir 5-10 times during 30s soak until no dry clumps remain
  8. Pour in hot water until weight reaches 255g
  9. Let steep until timer reaches 2m 30s
  10. Pour rinse water out of cup (can be done during step 9)
  11. Carefully fasten lid on AeroPress and invert onto cup
  12. Slowly press down until timer reaches 3m
  13. Remove AeroPress from cup
  14. Let coffee cool for 2-3m
  15. Enjoy your fresh cup of coffee!
